How to Get the Chelsea Look
By Sarah Atkinson.
This autumn, Chelsea style
continues to dominate. It’s sleek but sassy, classic yet colour-heavy. It’s
also glossy, polished and timeless.
Here’s how to achieve
this well-groomed look:
1.
Accessorise
Great accessories are key
to achieving the polished Chelsea
look. A designer handbag, chunky necklace and diamonds are the cornerstones of
great Sloane style, but that doesn’t mean you need to spend a fortune on honing
yours. Add a snakeskin clutch, a printed scarf or a statement necklace for a
fabulous finish to a classic outfit, or go for plenty of gold jewellery from Astley Clarke. Other essentials you will
need here are a golden tan and of course, a knock-out smile!
2. Hair
A tasteful cut and a voluminous
blow-dry are a Sloane must. Keep your mane in shiny shape with a regular trim
and a twice-weekly intensive treatment. Long, loose waves are a Chelsea staple, and timeless tresses like those of the
well-bred Middleton sisters are the best friend of every boarding school
graduate. If you’re not blessed with your own long locks, attach a few subtle
hair extensions through the underneath and mid-section of your hair to create
volume, rather than Essex-style length. Blow-dry hair upside down with a round
brush, and create lift at the roots using volumizing products.

4. Fur
The fastest way to get the
Chelsea look is to rock a faux-fur coat or gilet. Go for
70’s style with fur-trimmed collars and cuffs, or for maximum impact, dare to
wear classic animal print. The “yeti” coat is also a big trend this season –
think soft, shaggy and colourful, but keep the rest of your outfit sleek and
simple. Skinny jeans and block ankle boots will work a treat.
5. Heels
6. Confidence
The whole world is a
catwalk for any self-respecting Chelsea girl, and if you want to really rock the look
you’ll need to perfect your strut. Hold your head high, drop your shoulders
back, lead with your chest and let your arms swing back and forward while your
hips sashay from side-to-side. Keep your weight in your heels, run a hand
through your hair and strut!
