Glam Rock Inspiration!

In light of going to see the new 'Rock of Ages' movie last Wednesday, I wanted to dedicate this post entirely to GLAM. I have long been a massive glam rock junkie, ever since hitting my teen years. My obsession with the outspoken fashion, make-up and hairstyles as well as the high-voltage energy that glam-genre music pumps out is my all time favourite. Classic 70's glam certainly has it's place firmly in my CD collection, but my ultimate love affair lends itself to the 80's era of glam. Bands such as Motley Crue, Poison, Cinderella, Winger, Skid Row, Faster Pussycat, Lita Ford, Nitro and even early Bon Jovi where at the time seen as outrageous, innovative and at the peak of their music careers... in my eyes, for the time this was so true - I can't get enough of those squealing guitars and long-haired sex symbols, and it's safe to say that my passion for all things glam is not just a phase. Since the 80's era, glam has evolved, particularly when it comes to modern fashion trends and cutting edge high street style.

My favourite aspects of glam have to be the range of rainbow colours and garish, clash-trash prints that are acceptable in representing such musical greatness. Also, jewellery... and lots of it! For me, the more rings I can wear, the better! Decorating your own self means that you can wear whatever you feel good wearing and celebrate self expression in a visual sense.

Inspiration can be found almost anywhere if you have a good imagination, but glam rock certainly has much to offer in terms of musings.

Whether it's tattoos, piercings, over-the-top jewellery, bold make-up and hair dye or even if it's just some of the classic hair metal your into, glam should be embraced and is here to stay... it will continue to excite my senses, so here's to 'turning it up to 11' haha! ;)

I will be glamming it up in Manchester this weekend... Everyone else, have yourselves a great weekend! xx
